PVC fascias is a hardwearing plastic building material that out lasts old timber fascias. PVC fascias comes in various colours, sizes, designs and thickness. When using he correct fascias on your home this product will enhance the overall look of your home and what's more adds value. Facia will protect your home by protecting extreme weather conditions penetrating the walls of the building and causing damp, they also support the tiles on your roof.
fascias boards are fitted to the
end of the rafters just below the tiles of your home
allowing for PVC Gutters to be attached. some homes
have soffits which are on the under side of you fascias,
some are vented to allow air circulation and prevents
damp and rotting of the timber joists and damp
penetrating the walls of your home. Gutters and

Gutters and then run down a drainpipe into a drain or
soakaway. Many homes are now taking advantage of water
butts. If you notice that your old timber fasciass are

Some Questions Commonly asked
One Piece EPDM Questions
Can EPDM sheets be joined ?
Obviously there is a limit to the size any "One Piece" sheet can be. Apart from the size considerations there is also the weight issue. There are ocassions when the roof shape makes it impossible to use one piece. Fortunately the joining system is a very simple but effective solution. Typically a jointing tape is used to provide a strong watertight seal. Over time it becomes as strong as the membrane itself. Contact adhesive or Decking adhesive CANNOT be used to form a watertight join in EPDM
Is this something I can do as a Diy epdm installer?
Laying "One Piece" EPDM is fairly straightforward to do. As long as you can use basic hand tools you should have no problems. Tools required are Paint rollers, disposable paintbrushes, scissors, disposable gloves and a stiff broom. EPDM in large sheets and can become quite heavy. A 6m x 3m (20' x 10')sheet will weigh approx. 25Kg. Once laid out though it can be pulled round into place fairly easily
Can EPDM be laid over existing roof covering ?
In thoery EPDM membrane can be laid over existing fibreglass, fibrous cement boards, felt, bitumen and steel roof cladding. However in practice it is not always a good idea, requiring the use of specialist adhesives and or mechanical fixing. If unsure Please Contact Us
Is the EPDM membrane guaranteed ?
Although the expected lifespan of EPDM membrane is in excess of 40 years the actual material guarantee is for 10 years only.
Do I need any special tools ?
No special tools are required. Basic hand tools like scissors, paint rollers and disposable paintbrushes are all that is required.
Can I walk on the EPDM ?
The EPDM sheet supplied can be
walked on both during and after installation. However
common sense needs to be applied. EPDM is designed to
take LIGHT foot trafic for ocassional cleaning or
maintenance. Avoid studded boots and shoes. If ladders
are going to be used place something under to avoid
damage to the roof membrane.
The most common colour available is Black. EPDM is available in white but only in limited quantities from limited sources. National Roofing do not currently stock white EPDM
What size sheet do I need ?
On a normal extension etc it is advisable to measure the roof area and ADD 300mm to length and width i.e. Roof size 4m x 2m sheet size = 4.3m x 2.3m Where a flat roof runs into a tiled / slate roof it is advisable to ADD 400mm i.e. Flat roof area 4m x 2m with 4m edge abutting tiled roof. Sheet required 4.4m x 2.3m.
Self Adhesive EPDM Questions
Can I walk on this EPDM ?
This material is thicker than the "One Piece" EPDM and is suitable for medium foot traffic. It has a textured non slip surface.
Do I need Special tools ?
This material requires: A heat gun with flat nozzle, silicon / rubber roller for the seams. Penny roller would be useful for detail work, a reasonable pair of scissors and a small craft knife for cutting of the backing paper. Rollers and bruhes for the primer. National Plastics sell a range of heat guns to suit all budgets. All come complete with required nozzles.
How do I join the self Adhesive EPDM ?
The Self adhesive EPDM is joined and sealed by using a Hot air gun with a flat nozzle to heat weld any joints. This operation also forms the watertight seal for each strip.
How thick is the EPDM ?
The Self Adhesive EPDM is 2.5mm thick and is designed to take medium foot traffic.
Can EPDM be used to cover my old roof ?
EPDM can be laid over various roof coverings, the most common being either Orientated Strand Board (OSB or Sterling board) or Plywood. Either is suitable. OSB comes with one side treated to make it water repellant and this face should be laid down with untreated side face up. EPDM can be laid over most roof coverings i.e. old felt, concrete, fibreglass buit if laying EPDM over anything other than timber then please ring for advice, it can be done but requires different adhesives.
